How the hell would an earlier timeslot help? I mean, really. This isn't a TV show. You won't get spoiled if you don't read the secrets AS SOON AS THEY COME UP!!!!!!

Its hard to take part in the conversations, and the appeal of the comm is the conversations under the secrets (preferably unobstructed by the annoying random transcript post which just duplicates the stuff on page two anyway) at the later time. By the time a lot of people get to them everything has been said and no responses will be gathered. When it was earlier it allowed a lot more people to join in on the active phase of the comm instead of the passive #justreading phase. Moving to lj would probably help with that though, it has a long slow burn of commenters so everything isn't over in a couple of hours.

Are you seriously wanking about transcript anon? It's one comment per secret, attached to a logged-in poster which means you can tell where they've posted before you even expand the thread. This isn't exactly hard to scroll past.

Chill my friend, it's just jarring is all. You read down a list of comments which are personal contributions, getting into the flow, and there is a big recap of the picture. It just shoves a bit of a weird disconnect in there and you have to try and get into the flow again. Its already on page two, so its a bit redundant too.

Seriously do not get the obsession with LJ. The interfact is annoying as hell, it's down half the time thanks to DDOS attacks, and I'm pretty sure it's even more of a graveyard than DW. Tumblr is where the action is these days. It's time to move on.

Sorry, to clarify, I'm not saying go to tumblr. Personally I wish people would use dreamwidth for things other than fic fests. When I said it's time to move on I meant you need to stop living in the past, LJ is dead, find something else.

Agreed, aside from one incident last week where the GRU made an attempt to meddle in politics again, lj has been remarkably stable and has been growing traffic. I think a lot of people who abandoned it with pouted lips have realized that by doing so they were letting anti-gay rights campaigners and anti-democracy campaigners win. Leaving lj was giving in to stateterrorism and not supporting it is tantamount to saying you agree with the Russian homophobic stance.

Return to lj and show support for democracy, capitalism, and LGBT rights. Or say you want to stay on DW and just make you peace with the fact you believe in homophobia and terrorism.

people left because terrible admins/designers who don't listen to feedback from their clients and go on ahead with buggy releases and ignoring any beta feedback that isn't "go ahead, this is awesome"

and the workers who seem to care about the userbase don't seem to have much saying power with what happens to the site

if it wasn't for such shitty experiences I'm sure very few users would have cared about the servers going down because of anti-gay, anti-dissident political attacks; heck, I can see many throwing money down lj's way to support them

True for me too.

Besides, it's grown, stable people who remain and that's the ones I want to talk to. The "Ooh, shinies!" can keep wanking on tumblr (or wherever they're going when tumblr is getting out of fashion), I don't miss them at all.
