Either a) shipping or b) forming an opinion based on the reviews of the initial movie. Seriously, S/U has had criticisms from all manner of people.

(As it should. Cause it's stupid. Have I filled my K/S-shipper S/U bashing quota yet?)

DA

There is an equal amount of appreciation and criticism for them though. I remember that most of the reviews - the critics at least - liked it and listed the relationship as one of the highlights of the first movie, they thought it was refreshing and a bold move.
The only people I always see actively complaining about the pair are a) K/S shippers b) trek purists who complain about everything that isn't a carbon copy of tos c) fanboys who are butthurt over the fact that Spock isn't the loser they think he was and therefore they can't relate to him anymore.
A would hate any canon pair that conflicts with their ship. B will complain about everything regardless( it's the people that hated TNG too) C are hating on the spirk, spones and spock/chapel shippers since decades too and those pairs weren't even canon so it would be shocking if they liked spock/uhura now (this is valid for B as well)
oh I missed a group: the other shippers that play the concern trolling feminists (K/S fans yes but not just them)
