In that first picture(scene) he doesn't look so disinterested or not emotionally connected to her, though, and the scene where he more or less stated that he loves her too much was really touching.
Nevertheless, I think it makes sense for her to be more emotionally available than him and I love that his feelings are showed in a more understated manner. A too sappy Spock would be really silly and I hate sappy male characters.

I don't need Spock to be sappy, I just don't feel that they connect. Or that their relationship is logical. We just disagree. That's fine.
