I think Regina's feelings for Henry have been evolving and it's thanks to Emma. We saw Regina changing a lot when she was in Fairyland. She went from naive young girl to evil queen. We've seen her changing and learning after Emma broke the curse. But it seems she didn't change at all when the curse was operative. I don't think she was really able to love Henry before Emma's arrival.

Yeah, Reggie is kinda the anti-Disney princess. She's what you get when a singing animal doesn't turn up, your prince gets offed, and the fairy godmother turns out to be the fairly mad sorcerer. One thing I liked out of season two was the establishment of her being Snow's mirror image. Snow's heart has one point of black in it, and Regina's has one point of light (which is focused on Henry). If they work together they can both make it back into the light. Regina's willingness to sacrifice her own life to save everyone else in Storybrooke out of remorse and love clears the scorecard and would have been a great series finale (I have no idea on this, were they looking at possible cancellation there and hedging their bets?).

I just hope season 3 isn't full of backsliding and re-eviling of her so they can have her be wicked again.

I have put off on buying the second season because I don't want to see a redemption arc for a rapist.

Was that shit even handled? :/

No it wasn't, but you're forgetting that Regina is in most likelihood a rape victim herself as she was forced into a marriage she didn't want

**triggery***

Why would anon be "forgetting" that just by pointing out that Regina's a rapist? Her being a victim of it doesn't make her any less of one.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
Because what she was doing wasn't rape. It was some SF/F head screwy crap that fandom likes to call rape, but really just degrades real rape and the suffering of real rape victims. Fucking sick of SJW branding everything rape just to collect their bingo points.

Nope.

No, it doesn't. Performing one positive act doesn't erase or make up for a lifetime of horrible acts - especially when that one positive act is actually just averting yet another horrible thing that is ultimately your fault. She might, maybe have set one toe on the path to redemption, but she hasn't reached the end goal yet, and probably never will.

In your opinion. Opinions may vary. Other opinions may exist. Dependent on how judgmental the opinion holder is.

um. no. you smell of regina apologizim. regina is a horrible horrible fucking person. regina's ~act of redemption~ at the end of season 2 was still selfish in nature.

she has not acknowledged or taken responsibility for any of the awful shit she has done.

'a little toe' is pretty much the extent of it.

regina is a rapist, a child abuser, and a murderer. she murdered thousands of fucking people before the curse and enslaved an entire civilization for fucking DECADES because of her hateboner for a fucking 11-year-old girl. she also spent the first two seasons still continuously doing shitty horrible things and any attempt to "be good" was brought on by selfish desires, ie henry leaving for good.

she has done jack squat in the way of real redemption. all she does is try a little and throws temper tantrums when the people she's tormented their entire lives don't automatically accept her.

Oh lol, you.

clearly you don't understand that 'opinions' can be 100% wrong.
