There's this author I really like who is, apparently, obsessed with donuts, and so he includes donut shops in a ton of his stories and books (he has one short story whose title is just "Donuts"), and so now I am also kind of obsessed with donuts just from reading his stories about how awesome donuts are.

So I agree with your feelings here.

Does he describe donuts in extreme detail? Now I'm imagining the smell of donuts...

The author is James Blaylock. And he describes sometimes the donuts, but also the donut places, in extreme detail. It's great.

And I don't know. Because we just can't help ourselves, probably. The lure of the donuts is too strong.

The baker at our grocery store delivered five trays of donuts to the breakroom yesterday. Apparently we have a policy whereby she has to bake the same number every day regardless of whether she has boxes to put them in, and corporate has been lax about sending enough boxes. This is probably not helpful information to you unless you have a grocery store breakroom you can lurk in, but if you do? That's my suggestion on how to get donuts.

Whoaaaaaaaaaa, that's a shitload of free donuts! All that temptation...

IDK if this happens often or not, but if I were in such a situation it would become a problem. Mainly because I'm trying to lose some weight and eat healthier and donuts don't really fit into the equation...

But still, free donuts!

I will keep this information in mind, in the hopes that one day it will be useful to me.

It's not a terribly common occurrence, and it's never been this many at one time (at least when I've been there), but we get baked goods (usually donuts, sometimes unclaimed special-order cakes or -- my favorite -- pudding ring cakes that fell apart on their way to the sales floor) at least once a month.

Omg, pudding rice cakes?! Jesus, I don't think I've ever had that, but now I really want to look up some recipes...
