(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 12:38 am (UTC)(link)A general rule of thumb is that tomato based curries are hot and cream based curries are milder. There are exceptions though. Also general rule of thumb is that hot curries tend to be one note as far as spices go as so many recipes are all about amping up the heat and the cooler ones have a more varied palate. Again there are exceptions, a really good recipe can give you that variety of sensation in a vindaloo and a really bad one will have a one note bland korma.
They are dead easy to cook at home though.

My only issue with cooking it is that if i have to buy a bunch of different (and hard to find around here) spices that are expensive, and nobody likes it, i'm kind of screwed.
