Exactly. OP finally figured out that there's assholes in the real world and sometimes you have to deal with them in job settings. Which is good to be self aware, because that's how you sustain an income by learning tolerance. But OP also needs to realize that these settings vary, and there are plenty of organizations depending on the power structure that will fire your ass if you make an offensive comment or joke just because you think it's funny. There's also HR depending on how severe the sexism, racism, or homophobia is in your work setting and if you have proof of recordings of it.

The world isn't purely a crapsack world where assholes run it and get away with everything. There's shades of grey and more and more people are getting fed up with offensive comments where you are just as likely to run across someone getting you fired for it than letting it slip.
