Shitty people are sucking the fun out of my interchange :(

We just got here a week ago and everyone is circlejerking about how much they hate it. Today we were hanging out talking about what to do on Christmas and I said by then the initial excitement would be gone, and this girl laughed and said "when did it even start?" And everyone agreed wholeheartedly. I was super embarrassed because I am really very excited. We come from a third world country, and this is Europe! How can they not be excited??? But apparently they're all hating it here.

In general I feel really disconnected from them, and I can feel they don't like me very much. They rarely invite me to parties and nights out. My housemates don't even talk to me unless it's house related,but they quickly became best friends with each other. I think they talk about me behind my back, because sometimes I'll walk in and they will go really quiet and move somewhere else...

All these things are really draining me. I'm afraid I won't connect with anyone. I'm afraid their attitude will get to me. I'm afraid I'll be isolated. Ugh.

i know it's easier said than done, but don't let these shitheads ruin this for you

make the shit out of friends with the locals

enjoy what they are missing out with their edgy cynicism

i bet you (if they ever grow up to be mature people) they will look back on this and regret wasting this experience

yeah it's not easy, but really they're only cheating themselves out of this situation so try your best not to let them drag you down with them
