I don't want my ass kissed or showered with gratitude. I just don't want to be dismissed just because I'm not actually LGBT, just an ally. I like to think most straight allies are similar - not in it for brownie points or wtfever.

I guess it depends what it is that you feel you're being dismissed over.

I begin by conceding there are some grade-A jerks online on all fronts, so I'm open to the possibility that you really have been genuinely dismissed.

However, there are also definitely times I've been in conversations where I really needed the straight person who earnestly believed they were helping to sit down and stfu because they were missing nuances that come from expertise and experience and unwittingly spreading misinformation or stunting the discussion.

I guess my point is that often inclusiveness is vital, but sometimes exclusion and dismissal is necassary in order to get some stuff done.
