(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 12:50 am (UTC)(link)Emma's decision certainly wasn't 100% her own. Her circumstances were terrible and yes, many people who give up babies probably have terrible circumstances. But as Emma said herself, she wanted to give Henry his best shot in life and she knew she couldn't do that. If Emma hadn't given him up willingly he'd have surely gone into the foster care system, at least whilst she was in jail.
Maybe the show didn't deal with Emma's entrance into his life "properly" but what other option was there? Someone mentioned phone social services. If she'd done that then Henry could have potentially gone into the system that gave her a terrible upbringing, why would she want to risk her son going through that?
And besides, Storybrooke would probably be protected from any outside intervention. I doubt anything would have actually happened even if she did call social services. Anyone inside the town would have seen Regina as a responsible and caring mother with a solid job and the means to support a child. At the end of the day, the whole situation was created through magic, so maybe fate stepped in and made it happen the way it did.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:22 am (UTC)(link)That is why the Emma-Henry objectors say the show has a shitty premise and wrote themselves into a corner before it even got out of the gate.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 12:54 am (UTC)(link)the ONLY REASON henry sought emma out was BECAUSE REGINA WAS A SHITTY PERSON TO HIM. the objectors need to get the fuck over themselves. if regina had actually been a decent and loving parent (and wasn't an psychotic evil queen enslaving an entire civilization) he likely never would have left.
regina forced him to leave and find emma by her decision to gaslight him and make everyone in storybrooke make him think he was crazy.
