And according to them if you can't find a roommate and have no friends or family to move in with, you deserve to be out on the street because you're poor so fuck you.

So yes, troll or idiot. Possibly both.

da

They didn't say a person deserved to have that happen, just when you lack a job this is something that will happen. So best to get to job hunting all the time and save your money for bond/rent rather than buying figurines. Especially if you see someone being poor, constantly complaining about it but to all evidence not trying to fix it.

and yes, renting your own apartment is a luxury. I can't wait for the day I no longer need housemates or sharehousing to make ends meet

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a luxury when it's your only viable option because you have nowhere else to go in a neighborhood full of gangbangers.

Man, you're an idiot. Yes it is. You don't get your own private household without all the downsides of roommates/assisted living/bad neighborhoods until you can afford to have that household. What is so hard to understand about this?

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Because not everyone has the option of living with roommates or family. What's so hard for you to understand about that?

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
A private apartment is still a luxury. Besides that, where on Earth do you have to live that there are no options of roommates? No, really, tell me, I'm honestly curious.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
So it's a luxury even it's not an option if I don't want my life in jeopardy. Gotcha.

The reason it's not an option is because the people in this town have rap sheets at least two miles long and having a roommate is a death or rape sentence. Been down that road once.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, so clearly everyone lives on their own, blinds always drawn and doors always locked. And by that I mean you're full of shit.

Those people are living with someone, because people have to make that choice when they have no other options. Living alone is not your only option, but you're making it so for your own safety. And that? Is fucking fine, but don't pretend everyone has the luxury of making that choice.

(frozen comment)

Not everyone lives on their own, but blinds always drawn and doors always locked, yes. Either because they're cooking meth or they're afraid of the people who are. And they're routinely getting stabbed and shot to death by said roommates.

Living alone is my only option if I don't want to end up dead, yes. And that choice is not a fucking luxury. Caviar is a luxury. Not getting killed is not a fucking luxury.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Living alone is my only option if I don't want to end up dead

By definition, no, it's not. You have other options. They might get you killed, but so can living alone. Prove to me, without a doubt, that literally anyone in your city/town will murder you if they get the chance of being your roommate (which, frankly, I could believe) and I'll concede living alone is your only option. Until then? Nope. You're making choices and eliminating much cheaper options, which. is. a. luxury.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
So if a guy holds a gun to my head, it's not really rape because "I had other options." Wow.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, if you could read, you might notice I didn't mention rape. At all. That shit is all you.

But the risk of rape? Comes with every roommate on the fucking planet, right alongside the risk of financial problems, murder, drugs, etc. Must be nice not to have to deal with that, right? Must be nice to live alone.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You are saying that even if the other option could get you killed, it's still an option so the fact you have a choice is a "luxury" and that's a fucking stupid argument, but hey, if backpedaling makes you feel like less of a sociopath...

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Again, if you could read, you might notice that's the argument I've been making all along, and so is not backpedaling.

And yes, that's what I'm saying. What makes you so fucking special that you don't have to take risks like the rest of us? You're not the only person who lives in a bad neighborhood with a high crime rate, and you're not the only person who choose to live alone. You're still making that choice. Other people don't make that choice.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

Wow. You're really grasping at straws here to demonize a rape victim on the internet.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Demonizing. That's exactly what I'm doing. Let me know when your reality check bounces, okay, "different anon." (Who just happens to be replying as quickly as the original anon, the day after the post was made.)

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, demonizing. Hey, at least you admit it. Though being that shameless about it is a little disconcerting.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm sorry, are you a "different anon" too? It's so hard to keep you straight when you all look the same. Identical, you might say.

But since you're here, perhaps you could point out where I'm demonizing a rape victim. Keep in mind what "demonizing" means, and spelling counts.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
They've already pointed it out well enough themselves. Repeating them isn't going to solve anything since it's obvious you enjoy this type of thing.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Except for where they haven't. At all. Specific examples, please--my comments are all right there.

I enjoy arguing with idiots, yes. Clearly you do as well, since you're here arguing with me and I'm sure you think I'm an idiot as well.
