Well, it'd be more mental, right? Since you can't actually change your sex. You're either male or female, unless you have a genetic defect/disorder. So it'd be more of a mental change with surgery.

Oh christ here we go...

AYRT

is it possible you phrased that really badly?

Are you saying FtX could only be a mental change because you're physically either M or F? If so, that's sort of what I was wondering, but hopefully it came out as more of a question when I asked rather than as blanket statement of "This is the way it is" (like I said, badly phrased).

Or are you saying that all changes in gender are mental because no matter what surgery you get you are still only male or female. If so, then you are either misinformed or trolling / deliberately being unkind. if the latter, please would you bugger off.

Uh, but you can change your physical sex, you just can't change your genetic one. It's not like the average person does blood tests on other people when determining what sex they are.

This.

What's more, genetical sex doesn't always correspond to phenotypical sex. Take for instance people with Androgen insensitivity syndrome, who are genetically male, but phenotypically female and usually don't know about their condition until they hit adulthood and become concerned over lack of menstruation. Of girls with Turner syndrome who are genetically sexless and phenotypically female. There are also people with Congenital adrenal hyperplasia, who are genetically female or male, but phenotypically ambiguous.

Human sex is a pretty complicated thing and very hard to classify.
