The hellhounds attacked when one of them was shot by Dean.Meg,before that, tells them to go see Lucifer,'cause she'll let them,("Make it easy")and Dean says something along "When have you know us to make anything easy?" and shoots, with Ellen's permission (she nods). So don't tell me it's her fault when she didn't tell the hounds to maul them. They were provoked.
The Winchesters and the Harvelles knew what they were doing, they weren't ambushed or something like that.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)Maybe you should watch that clip again, because Meg brought the Hellhounds specifically to go after them if they didn't make the "easy" choice. That's what the Hellhounds were there for, so saying "oh, they weren't there to attack, honest" is a pretty silly interpretation.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 03:25 am (UTC)(link)They're HELLHOUNDS. That's what they DO. They're fucking terrifying beasts of Hell, and their sole purpose as far as we've seen is to savagely tear apart and destroy. Demons carry them around for the sole purpose of inflicting painful, violent deaths on their enemies (or deal-makers, whatever).
Meg gave them "the easy way out." Oh, so they were just supposed to roll over and go to Lucifer? Who here believes Sam or Dean or any of them would ever do that? Meg didn't, either. She brought those hellhounds there for the sole purpose of attacking Sam and Dean's group. That was why they were there.
And- they shot at a violent, vengeful HOUND OF HELL. Oh my goodness, who would ever expect a hunter to do such a preposterous thing!?!
Meg's hellhounds attacked and killed Jo. They were the reason Ellen died. Period the end. You can like Meg if you want, but she is the reason Ellen and Jo died.
