Yeah, I always cringe when parents/family react so violently to their children not believing in their religion. "Get out of my house, or else your nonbelief might anger the skydaddy and I won't get to have fun in the clouds for all eternity!"

SA

And I cringe whenever grown adults use the term "skydaddy". Please don't.

Actually, I think replacing "God" with "Skydaddy" is an excellent way for religious leaders to show that they are "totally hip" and "with it," and that it would be just the "'tude" to adopt to draw out the religious enthusiasm they feel the youth of today are lacking.

Except you just used it in the comment above? *is confused*

Sorry, anon meant to put "AYRT" instead of "SA". I get 'em mixed up sometimes.

God is a skydaddy though. He's this father figure that lives up in the sky in a magical kingdom made of clouds. The whole idea of God is so very, very childish. If you're an adult and you believe in a magical floating sky being, then yeah, I think it's okay for people to point out how absurd that is.

Most people don't believe God is literally an entity floating around in the sky. In fact, my Catholic school teachers (I'm not Catholic, by the by) specifically told us that's wrong. God and heaven being "in the sky" is just a metaphor for things that are in reality beyond our full comprehension.

So in the future, please at least know what people actually believe before you make fun of them for it.

DA

But just because your Catholic school teachers told you that THEY don't believe that doesn't mean that there aren't other people out there who really DO believe it.
