My SO uses a kind of saddle-shaped stool at his work (he's a tattoo artist), so the inside thighs/crotch area of his jeans wear out. It's a million times faster and easier for the dry cleaners to patch it. They do this oversew of the patch with a zig-zag stitch, makes it very strong.
