As others have said, I don't think it's considered a warning so much as a tag, or a description. Like AU fics or crossovers (which I personally love, but others hate). That said, I think it's a false equivalence to compare original fic with fanfic. The expectations are not the same from the start, and trying to claim they should be is missing the whole point of fanfic.
