I started getting a bunch of bug bites with more continuously popping up everyday until I couldn't take it anymore and broke down and was able to go to a clinic for medication for the swelling and infected bites.

I didn't know the source of where they were coming for but it seemed crazy I was getting all of them from the little time I spend outdoors from class to class.

But then I changed my sheet and found some dead bug and freaked out. My father said it might be a tick but we're not sure.
I've rechecked my new sheets and haven't found anymore, but it's made me afraid to sleep in my own bed. I'm avoiding it for another night to be sure I don't get anymore bites but I'm still scared.

Might be bed bugs. See if changing sleeping places help.

Or it's a bedbug :/ put everything in the dryer on high heat for an hour-- that'll kill them if its bedbugs, no idea about ticks.

Bedbugs are pretty good at sticking around though so if it persists you might have to call professionals to douse your house in chemicals. :(

I already took all the linens and mattress pad through the hot waters of the washer and dryer on hot, I had just looked back through the new sheets if any more appeared.
I really hope there had only been the one or if there were others they were killed in the washing

I agree with the others, it could be bed bugs. I don't actually know much about them so I suggest you google and see what precautions you can take. At the very least wash your bedding and maybe sleep in a different place for a couple nights; see how things go. If you move back to your bed and keep finding bites then yea, you'll probably have to take more drastic measures to be rid of them...

Let's hope it doesn't come to that. Good luck!

Are your bites in any sort of pattern or clusters? Bites in groups of three ('breakfast, lunch, dinner formation') are a classic sign of bedbugs.

Until you get a positive ID on the source of the bites, I'd recommend not using the same pyjamas or sheets wherever you're sleeping now- if it's bedbugs, it's easy to accidentally spread them from one bed to another, and they're difficult to get out once they've infested a spot. If you find a dead bug again, put it in some kind of container so you have it to show to pest experts and/or doctors.

Might be bedbugs. Check out the mattress itself, especially all the corners, they like corners. A definite sign of bedbugs would be little bits of black spotting on the mattress - that's their droppings. I really hope you don't have them, I went through that and it's not fun.
