Maybe some writers are sick and tired of the double standard where someone has to tag OC MAIN CHARACTER or else they will ***~get in trouble~*** and it's time for people to grow up and realize life is like a box of fucking chocolates and not get in a twist if you come across something that's not made to your order. Especially if it is free.

Given your reaction and the reaction of others, it's just not the matter of "is it so hard to just tag for OCs?" It's the matter of making this such a grave offense and people's nasty reactions.

OC are not hurtful or offensive in themselves. If it's that offensive to you, it's your own problem, not the writer's. Snarky comments not necessary. If the fic is not what you want, gracefully back out like you would do with any other fic that isn't what you expect of fics.

OCs get this treatment only because of convention (because people wanna read their favorite males in slash), not because they are inherently problematic. Unquestioned convention needs to be challenged hard.

TD;DR: chill out first world problem

DA

I'm not seeing the double standard. What are you referring to by that?

DA-just my perspective but...

Perhaps that if you say forget to tag one character that shows up. It's no biggie. But when you don't tag for an OC it's like the worst thing ever and suddenly you deserve a bunch of shit. No not just "please tag your OCs' it's "Tag this Mary Sue shit, or take it down. No 1 curr"

Or in discussions about fics. Defending your ship when someone is needlessly rude about it? Awesome, go you! You bring up an OC and someone will hop on you about how shitty it is and if you don't like that? Bam you're a butthurt and pathetic lolcow.

It just feels like OCs are acceptable targets sometimes. /two cents.

DA/"OP" oh is that what they were getting at.

Because I have already mentioned I don't like it if a canon character is the main character when they said it was gonna be another character, so i'm not exactly sure how I'm magically holding a double standard when I just want the fic to tag who the focus is so i can decide if i want to read it or not.

*nods*

I understand...i was just trying to think of what they meant. I don't know why they were using a bunch of SJW terminology.

It was probably a troll.

If an OC is the focus of your fic, forgetting to mention that there's an OC in your fic is kinda like forgetting to mention that there's scat in a PWP where the focus is scat. You don't just forget to mention the thing that is the focus of your fic.

True, people who have an OC as the focus of the fic would probably try to trick someone into reading they're fic and that's bad.

Fair enough...

I'm pretty sure you're trolling because you're throwing around words like hurtful, offensive, problematic, conventions (haha what) and double standards over OC's which isn't exactly a SJW issue so I'm basically going to ignore you

On the unlikely change you're not a troll tl;dr You wanna know why I don't want to read about OC's? Because I want to read about the canon characters. You wanna know why I may make a comment going "jfc tag your OC's"? Because they didn't tag their OC's
