See, I have absolutely no problem with OCs. I have read lots of fics with OCs - as side characters. Even a few as main, though I'll admit I was still mostly interested in what the canon characters were doing than that OC's story, no matter how much I liked the OC.

Because that's the main problem. Not matter how good your OC is, it's still that, an original character. You, as a writer, love that character. Of course, you created them, you know everything about them. But for us readers, they don't have the emotional impact a canon character has. And there's a good chance it never will, no matter how good the OC/writing is, because they're competing against characters we already love to bits - after all, we are reading fanfic, not original fiction. People just don't have to like your OC, or want to give them a chance.

Anyway, tag will, at the end, give you more good that bad, because people will read the story knowing what they're getting into. And that is true for every tag, not only OC warning.

THANK YOU

I would like to give a whole internet and ALL the awards for stating this without resort to spite or snide comments or making assumptions about "your shitty Mary Sue" and all that while still expressing your opinion.
