I don't think it's pathetic (moreso than shipping is in general) but I also wish I didn't ship it.

(And in my obviously VERY BIASED opinion this secret is gorgeous!)

Secret 5 - Supernatural

They are both wearing suits (Dean has a "press" pass clipped to his jacket and is taking notes in a small notebook), and looking at each other in a sort of bewildered manner.]

I think Destiel shippers are kind of creepy and pathetic. So I wish I didn't ship this so much.

I agree that there's a vocal minority of crazy among the Destiel shippers.

But they don't make me wish I didn't ship it. I just wish they'd stop shipping it. Or at least being obnoxious about shipping it.

I'm honestly not trying to be snarky here. But I'm a casual SPN fan and the Destiel craziness just seems to be everywhere. I find it really hard to 'escape' from. I've seen plenty of sane fans but it honestly seems like THEY'RE the minority now.

Don't you see how a "vocal minority" might look like a majority in spaces where vocalizations are all that get counted?

It is for me. I mostly read only Sam/Dean or J2, and i don't actually like Misha/Jensen. I only like Castiel in the mix if it's a threesome and i find *plenty* of fic to read.

I really think it's the spaces you inhabit in fandom. I'm not even inundated with it on Tumblr, just a light shower. :)

It is DEFINITELY not a minority portion of fans that are vocal with the Destiel crazy. Non-shippers and fellow shippers alike literally cannot get away from it. It's all over fandom spaces, cons, and in fiction that's supposed to center around other pairings.

But someone always comes out to say that "not all of us/them are like that." Yes, I'm looking at you, too, other fandom otp shippers that do this.

I have no issues with Destiel the ship. It's just the part of the fandom for it that treats women like a plague/that are obsessed with it becoming canon/that honestly think it's going to happen that I find annoying.

Cas sleeping with a woman will not 'ruin' him. Women aren't breathing STDS, okay! lol

Not defending those sort of Destiel fans (far from it), but I'm pretty sure they'd say Castiel sleeping with anyone but Dean will 'ruin' him.

Of course, women will get more shit because a) it's far more likely Castiel will sleep with a woman than a man and b) women get more shit for everything ever.

I'm just sick of the atrocious hate-on certain parts of the fandom has for female characters. I wouldn't care if Cas slept with a guy. :p SPN is more than shipping, yaknow

Ever since Misha said Cas would be sleeping with someone/Cas was going to notice 'pretty women' now that he's human, the Destial tags/fandom has gone batshit crazy against female characters. I'd say it's far worse than even the "wincest' shippers

This right here. I say let people ship what they want, but it's this attitude among the Destiel shippers/Dean lovers that have made me hate this ship and dislike Dean's fans by default.

There are always the crazies in fandom. But I wouldn't call all destiel shippers creepy and pathetic. Some are far too into the ship however and need to leave the cast alone.

Of course, I do ship destiel, so that might be my bias showing. I could very well be creepy and pathetic and in denial.

I don't like the pairing but I feel like that's a harsh statement. Maybe some of the fans take things too far (I left the fandom around the time the pairing exploded so I don't have lots of experience with the fanbase and aren't sure what they've done to upset you), but liking a pairing does not make you pathetic or creepy. Their behavior could be that, but not all shippers (of ANY pairing) are the same.

I don't really see how Destiel fans are creepy and pathetic. Sure, some take it too far, but that can be said of any shippers. I have seen some seriously heated shit for obscure fandoms; there just aren't cons and public appearances like there are for SPN, so the crazy has more of an opportunity to present itself (and be recorded and posted on youtube).

I ship Destiel, but I pretty much ship Castiel with a lot of people. :D It's the whole "kickass angel who isn't afraid of going up against other angels completely outnumbered, but gets so nervous he looks ready to pass out when he's taken to a bordello" thing. When Anna was alive, I shipped her and Cas like burning. I mean, really. "Anna, I don't know what to do. Please tell me what to do." Yeah, I know it's about rebelling blah blah blah, but my mind went there via the gutter. Oh it went there. :D

Why'd you stop when Anna died? There's always AU's and past fic and 2014!verse. Plus it's Supernatural, nobody's guaranteed to stay dead. XD

Oh I definitely still love the thought of them together, but Anna looks pretty dead. :\ Plus I can't find many fics where that's treated as a viable ship. *le sigh*
