that seems like a very smug elitist attitude. so WHAT if they don't have a lot of life experience? a lot of people touched so deeply by fandom are very young or confined to home for a variety of reason (disability, illness, mental/emotional issues)... they don't have the freedom of running around having "normal" life experiences that change them and encourage growth. if a fandom is what does that for them, great. it means they're changing and growing, who the fuck cares what did it for them? it's a good thing. it's a happy thing. and looking down on WHY some one grows and changes because it's "not normal" or "not good enough" is BS, IMO.
