That "oh you just don't like it because it doesn't have one main character and everybody is more or less horrible and everybody can die" sounds so childish. Nor criticzing you but the people who says things like that, just to be clear.

I assume that most people don't like The Wire because it's a complex show that doesn't give a shit about the viewer, so it's the viewer the one that needs to get into the story and not the story sponfeeding the viewer like most media does. I remember when I started watching a season for the first time, during the first episodes I didnt understand what the hell was going on and who the characters were. It was confusing.

It's pretty hard to get into The Wire, but I also needed a few opisodes to get into Oz. Except once I did get into Oz, I was really interested in everything that was happening, in every single character. And on The Wire there are just always storylines that I don't give a shit about, characters that are bland and uninteresting, and then I wish I'd either get DIFFERENT characters or more about the actually complex/interesting characters. I suppose the disadvantage of the show not giving a shit about the viewer is that, while it's extremely interesting at times, it's also fairly dull at others.
