It's really not. I was always courteous online as a teenage fan - even more so because of my age and the stereotypes, I guess - and even now, most teens in fandom are pretty decent people. Arseholeish behaviour isn't the norm, and we shouldn't indulge arseholes by pretending that it is or that it's acceptable.
