The literary version occurred with Twilight; everyone I knew was raving about it, it was in the vein of stories I liked, and the first chapter was interesting enough. Then after two more chapters of her slowly building up what a weird creeper Edward was, Bella Googles "the dude is probably a vampire" and BOOM OMG INSTANTLY IN TRUEST TRUE LOVE.

Nope. *book toss*

Ohh, Anne Rice's Lasher novels. After dragging myself though a whole novel of gratuitous taboo breaking that went nowhere and did nothing, the second novel opens with a pre-teen raping an adult man via the use of drugs.

My big 'nope' moment with Twilight was the sparkling scene in the forest or wherever. I remember putting the book down and thinking "what the fuck am I reading?" and wanted to just quit entirely, but a friend was urging me that it just got better, so I gave it another shot.
