Why do some mods seem to hate their community?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-17 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
So I'm in a few comms where the mods seriously seem to hate their members, except for a few people they like. Case in point: At one some people can be mean, but only occasionally does the mod say anything. One time a few of us complained, and (s)he just made fun of us in another thread.

I'm a mod myself and I realize it's not always easy. You even do have to choose sometimes when to let things go and when to stop them, so I get that. It just seems like some mods start/take over communities and then want to be left alone entirely, and get irked if you ask them to take responsibility, especially if it's their friends being idiots. If I ever got that indifferent towards my community, I'd leave. Seriously.

So why do some seem to just have no patience for their members, or at least certain members? Why even run it if you don't like anyone?

Because they don't realize they can quit, like the powertrip they get, feel obligated, and/or have their own group that keeps them there.

Pretty much what the anon above me said.

All the more reason to love Case and appreciate all that he does.
