Re: the 'nope' moment
(Anonymous) 2013-09-17 02:19 am (UTC)(link)Speaking of moments that cause you to lose hope in a show, TBBT lost me the minute they started introducing new characters out of the blue and mucking around with the format and the whole dynamic. That's my "nope moment."
Even the early seasons are not without flaws, and I agree that there were some annoying aspects and some questionable messages in this show from the very beginning. However, I still love those early episodes and I think I'd be a hardcore fan today if they hadn't dumbed it down and made so many changes for the sake of being more mainstream and more profitable.
TL;DR: the early seasons of TBBT are much better than what it has become today, IMO. It's a classic case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I'm not much of a sitcom fan except for the true classics like Seinfeld and Frasier, but TBBT breaks my heart. So much squandered potential. Wonderful actors languishing in a shitty context.
