What is with the people in this thread? I mean, I'm not going to defend OP's actions, they were certainly immature and ridiculous, but OP is really beating themself up over this. The amount of annoyance they caused whatever community they were in doesn't warrant all this "Well, yeah, you should feel like shit and hate yourself." OP did a bratty thing, they got called out on it, the world spins on. And if this was a fandom where things like this happened, they probably weren't the only or the worst offender, so why act like they must have been?

There's a degree of social humiliation which is useful for learning from your fuckups, and then there's the stuff that turns into depression and social anxiety, and the latter is not a good thing for anyone.

You messed up and got called out for it, OP, but that doesn't mean you should hate yourself for all time. Some people learn the hard way what not to do. Move on and give yourself a break.

Nobody is telling the OP to hate herself for all time. They are telling her that she should feel ashamed because she behaved shamefully. With a couple of exceptions, pretty much everyone is saying that they hope she's learned better sense and can move on.
