Secret 1 - Fandom friendship
Every single one of my fandom "friends" has met one another through me, and then they become best friends forever. Even fandoms that they're now creaming their pants over, yeah, I introduced them to them! I've been talking about this show for literally years, and one person decided to watch it as well. Yet I am the one person who they leave out of everything. Skype chat? Nine out of ten people are invited. I'm the one person who isn't.
Maybe I should try to find new friends.
Secret 2 - Fanfiction tagging etiquette
I don't care what any of you say. I like the exhaustive character and pairing tags on Archive Of Our Own.
I roll my eyes at people whining about multiple-character listing on FanFiction.Net. A lot.
Bonus secret: While I could do without tumblr-style tagging, there are a few authors who use it who I like just fine.
Portmanteau fandom descriptions, however, can die in a fucking fire, and take "feels" as a noun with them.
Secret 3 - Sex in fanfiction
I think I've reached the point where I've read too much smut. Vanilla sex does nothing for me anymore, whether it's slash, het, or femslash. Now, I have to search for the kinkiest shit in order to get turned on, but even then I can't get off from it. [crying face emoticon]
Is this even supposed to happen?
Secret 4 - Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch (might be spoilers in comments)
[Picture is two photographs of... cakes? which have been decorated with the covers of the books "Rivers of London" and "Moon Over Soho" by the author Ben Aaronovitch. We see in one photograph the immaculate cakes, and in the next photograph they have been sliced to be served, revealing their brown, presumably chocolate-y, yummy insides.]
I suffer from a moderately bad skin disease, and Lesley May was my inspiration. If she could be awesome, if Peter liked her, perhaps I can be awesome, too. Then Broken Homes happened. Fuck FUCK FUCK.
I'm not mad at Aaronvitch or anything, I just, well, you get the idea. FUCK. I think it was a good and believable plot twist, but FUCK.
Secret 5 - Original writing, Hannibal
I'm trying to find songs for a playlist for an original story. I thought I'd look for songs by going through Hannibal fanmixes on tumblr, because my bad guy has a restaurant that serves a different kind of meat. I thought HEY, THE HANNIBAL FANDOM MUST HAVE DARK, CREEPY, TWISTED SONGS ABOUT CANNIBALS! RIGHT? FUCK NO! IT'S ALL FUCKING HANNIGRAM LOVE SONGS! FUUUUUUUCK!
Notes
Secret 6 - Whomp! (webcomic)
Panel 1 (A short, fat man wearing eyeglasses is talking with a tall woman):
Woman: Hey! Come to my parents' house for Thanksgiving.
Short Man: Eh? I already have a reservation, though.
Panel 2 (The woman insists, the man looks uncertain):
Woman: Cancel it! It'll be great, I promise.
Short Man: Okay... I need to make a phone call.
Panel 3 (A different, tall man answers the phone excitedly somewhere else):
Tall Man: Hey, Ronnie! How's it going? We're all set up here, ready for-
Short Man (on the phone): I can't make it.
Panel 4 (The short, fat man looks anguished and apologetic, but he keeps talking to his friend on the phone):
Tall Man (on the phone): Oh, I see.
Short Man: I'm really sorry.
Tall Man (on the phone): N-no, it's quite alright.
Short Man: Thanks. Sorry again.
Panel 5 (The tall man is at a fast food restaurant (McDonald's?). He looks disappointed as he ends the call on his phone, while three people on a McDonald's worker uniform stand behind the counter, next to a cashier. There is a stuffed turkey on a plate in front of them, on the counter):
McDonald's Worker: Who's gonna tell Steve?
Panel 6 (A man inside a giant mascot-type suit in the form of "Ronnie" (the short man from before) wearing a "pilgrim"/early American settler outfit comes in through a door):
Man in mascot suit: Tell me what?

Text from secret maker:
I really like this comic, mostly to see what crazy offtopic thread will result from it.
Secret 7 - Slash shipping
When I see people get in a snit because other people don't have any slash ships and call those people ~homophobes~ on that basis alone I think to myself "do you also call people phobic if they like only het[erosexual] real life porn?"
Some people only ship pairings they find personally sexually appealing. Learn to live with it.
Secret 8 - Dexter
All I want from the ending is for them to end up together. Not necessarily romantically, I just don't want him to run off with Hannah and leave her behind.
Secret because: Not exactly a popular opinion.
Secret 9 - Fanfiction
Math is a beautiful thing. A lot of people like math, and even more are perfectly okay with it.
I am suspicious of fanfic assertions that characters hate math. I usually think the authors are projecting.
If a character is good with electronics or programming? Then even if math isn't their favorite hobby, they're not bad at it.
Secret 10 - General fandom
For the first time in a long while, I don't have anything to be fannish about. The last seasons/books/installments of virtually all my open canons have been disappointing and lackluster, and I just can't work up any enthusiasm for whatever comes next.
I never thought that my fandoms were a particularly huge part of my life, but now that I don't really have any, I miss them.
