What is "tumblr-style" tagging, and how does it differ from ordinary tagging?

[I was drunk] [Ohs so sexies] [writing while knitting] [does Bruce need a hug] [I licked a tree tee-hee]

Tumblr shit.

That's a style? But these sorts of tags are only unified in the fact that they have no common organizational principle! That's not a style! *protest, whine, throw things*

In a more serious vein, thank you. At least now I know.

Yeah, using a tag yourself on tumblr as commentary can be fine. Using it on a unified website which is trying to get consistent tags so searching can be done, not so much.

They are stupid-style. Stupid can be a style, on tumblr and AO3 its pretty much the only style.

oh, the do-not-read tags.

It's like, I'm having this whole conversation, of authorial asides, which really belong in author's notes, but for some reason, I thought it would be a good idea, to put them in the tags, god knows why, anti-tumblr backlash, way too much work for mods, tags are longer than the damn story, how much longer is this going on, I forgot to add, if you have a tag that makes no sense at all without the preceding tag it IS NOT A PROPER TAG, and on and on and on, so yeah, kind of like this

I'm guessing by that they mean using tags for commentary rather than, y'know, organization, the thing they're meant for.
