...to the first two. I also read the stuff straight from the book right before the test.
Um... study groups really helped with ASL. And if you can turn something into a game you're golden.
Re: STUDY SKILLS
Memorization just has me barely scraping by with a grade (See: Biology, Economics)
Re: STUDY SKILLS
(Anonymous) 2013-09-18 12:52 am (UTC)(link)Before a test, I'd make flashcards of anything that was on the study guide or that seemed like an important point in my lecture notes or the reading materials. If I was given sample essay questions, I'd at least make an outline of the hypothetical essay I would write in answer. If there was going to be a discussion I'd be expected to participate in, I'd make sure I did the assigned reading and wrote down a few ideas of things to discuss.

Seriously though? Going over important definitions and concepts, formulae, etc. before class and at the end of the day, doing homework regularly and making sure I'm on top of my classes in general are what I'm striving for.
And I'm totally procrastinating right now.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-18 02:43 am (UTC)(link)remember, op, that not everyone learns the same way! flashcards, questions practice with buddies, group study, talking out loud and highlighting did nothing for me
nothing

(Anonymous) 2013-09-18 03:39 am (UTC)(link)For english I just reread and reread. Notes matter to a degree. But if I just show up to class I'm almost guaranteed to remember the most basic info I need so the good stuff is really in the text.
Re: STUDY SKILLS
(Anonymous) 2013-09-18 03:44 am (UTC)(link)I realize this is incredibly arrogant, but a) "if I read it, I remember it" is a real thing for me, and b) I've promised myself that if this method starts to fail me, I will crack down and learn some real study habits.
Gonna get the results for my first test tomorrow.... we'll see how this goes.

Re: STUDY SKILLS
Studying everything a book/lecture has to offer becomes easier once I can understand and memorize the basics...
...then again I'm a Med student so I'm forced to summarize or die from overload of information. D:
IT'S PROBABLY NOT YOUR CASE THOUGH. GOOD LUCK! <3
