"Sad romance books" for fourteen-year-olds?

[personal profile] souljelly 2013-09-17 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
My sister asked for this specifically and I'm not sure what to recommend her. She just finished reading the Noughts and Crosses series by Malorie Blackman, so I guess anything in a similar style to that. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Does she like fantasy? I'd recommend The Last Unicorn, which is kind of a romance (at least the second half of the novel).

I think she prefers more 'real life' stuff, but I you never know, so I'll pass on this rec. Thanks!

I'm not sure what's good for 14 year olds, but I recently read a couple of sad romance books. "Before I Die" by Jenny Downham and "The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green. Both are a little cancery though. Not sure if that's her type, but I enjoyed both of them.
