Understandable. She was a terrible, bratty little sister.

This has got to be one of those most popular opinions I've ever seen posted as a secret.

A HUGE amount of people hate her (including me and I myself am a bratty little sister). Why do you think they show "Arthur's Big Hit" so rarely? Because instead of getting the message "hitting is wrong" from it, most viewers got "he should have hit her harder than that as long as he was at it".

I could kind of agree with the intended moral, except not only did he spend a lot of time working on it and told her not to touch it, which she should have respected, but after she broke it she taunted him about it. I'm normally very much for nonviolence, but I was cheering him on, too.

And on the flip side, I have this raging hatred for Ruby.
Possibly because I'm the younger sibling.

True, but Ruby had her share of being a "bossy big sister" and dragging poor Max along even when he just wanted to play with some new cool toy.

She's definitely an annoying little shithead, but that's the whole point of the character, and she's actually really funny (imo) in some of the later episodes (while still be a horrible shithead).

Kids aren't exempt from hatred. What's her age got to do with anything? If she's being a dick, she's being a dick, no matter whether she's a kid or not.

funny story: I've been watching the show since I was a little baby (it first started when I was almost 1 IIRC) and I have an older sister whom I've never gotten along with. according to several anecdotes about past me, DW was pretty much my idol and I had a little plushie of her and acted like an asshole all the time, mimicking her behaviour. present me is split between amusement and embarrassment about this.

I remember identifying with matt from lizzie mcguire too.

Haha, me too. I'm an older sibling who didn't get as much attention as my needier (and brattier) younger one, so I always sympathized when Arthur lost his patience with her.

I almost always hated the younger siblings. As a general rule I don't like any kids, so I'm sure my feelings haven't changed.
