I do art, so things might be a bit different. I always respond to friends and respond to comments if they have something insightful or remotely constructive. I don't usually respond to things like, "Awesome job!" or "Great work!"

Pretty much if a good conversation can come out of it or someone put a lot of time in to writing it a review, I'll respond.
