um....I'm sorry?

Hey I'm not denying it is popular. I guess I just hang out here a lot and find some of the people here interesting and value some of their opinions.

Hell, I'd agree. I hate how when a dude protagonist does something great and gets to be the chosen one (thought I'm not fond of "chosen one" things in general) hey it's all cool that's normal. But then a female protagonist does something cool and chances are a dozen people will hate her as a "Mary Sue"

Harry Potter has a prophecy about him before he's born. Hey that's cool. Katniss Everdeen volunteers in a fight to the death and makes it through the event alive? "OMG WHAT A CANON SUE". (But oh man don't get me started on stupid 'canon sue accusations and how a woman protagonist CANNOT avoid being accused by someone as 'idealism / fantasy breaking suspension of disbelief' JUST because they're a woman. My WORD I could rant all day on that)

I mean this story in particular turned out the way it did because, well it just did, partly having to do with a role reversal of a thing I see in fiction. I have two other works with female protagonists , one of which featuring a female who doesn't end up with anyone and its no big deal (because there are way too many "BUT YOU HAVE TO HOOK UP" stories.) Another with 5 female protagonists and a f/f beta couple.

*shrug*
