I write for popular fandoms, I write for kink memes (so I already have an audience that will follow the links), and I write a lot of (at least non-crappy) porn.

Sex, surprisingly, sells.

The gen and non-porn fics I do, and the ones for lesser-known fandoms, get some acknowledgement, but not nearly as many hits, never mind comments.

(I mean, I'd like to think it's because I'm a good writer, but if I'm honest then the above factors probably have more to do with it.)
