Re: Non-fandom confessions

In my experience, the only people I've known with "dead eyes" were survivors of severe abuse.

You might want to take that possibility into consideration before "someone else piloting them".

Interesting. In my experience, the people who I've come across with dead eyes turned out to be pathological liars and sociopaths. The dead eyes seemed to come from the fact that they never looked at you but through you. As if they could not see the person in front of them. Or even acknowledge that the person in front of them was a person with thoughts and feelings.

I'm not really sure if I can tell 'dead' eyes from regular eyes. Are there people walking around like x_x? I have to admit, I avoid looking in people's eyes. I think I might be one of these dead-eye people but I swear I'm just really tired.

Wait, so if you have dead eyes its because you're tired.

If they have dead eyes, it's because there psychopath/sociopathic???? OP, you creep me out way more than anyone with 'dead' eyes would.

NAYRT--I think the anon you responded to is not the OP of the thread, but someone pointing out that all those dead-eyed demons OP keeps running into are not in fact possessed but rather in need of sleep and caffeine. And I don't really get the 'dead-eyed' thing either. Like, people with heavy duty cataracts, or?

Lollllllll I'm a different anon than the OP but I guess I should have clarified that.

DA--sometimes I look in the mirror and think that my eyes look empty, and I don't generally make eye-contact with people unless I know them really well--I've been accused of looking through people before. I try not to, but making eye contact makes me really insanely uncomfortable. I'm fairly certain I'm neither possessed nor a sociopath. And one of those people I know well enough to make eye-contact with? Is probably a sociopath. Not like a kitten-eating, baby-skinning monster. But really lacking in empathy, enjoys lying just for the hell of it, and very selfish. Her eyes look normal. And sociopaths are usually very good at being charming and social. Abuse victims, like the other anon said, are not always good at normal interaction like eye-contact, and sometimes just plain old social awkwardness has the same effect. Seriously. Awkwardness≠demonic possession. Now if their eyes glow red or you catch them eating a puppy sandwich, you might want to break out the salt and holy water.

Do some fucking research into what sociopathy actually is before you spout this dead-eyed-looks-through-you bullshit. A lot of sociopaths are incredibly socially skilled. And sometimes people with personality disorders and pathological lying impulses were, as AYRT said, badly abused; abuse can trigger personality disorders.
