What is 'Welcome to the Nightvale' anyway? I keep seeing it popup everywhere, but I have no idea what it is.

It's a podcast about a mysterious town called Night Vale. It's like a news report of the town, told by newscaster Cecil Baldwin.

That sounds almost interesting. What sort of tone does it strike?

Creepy?

Night Vale is an odd little town where angels, floating cats, secret police, glow clouds, mandated pizza eating and more, exist. It's very strange... but in a good way.

I'm going to give it a go I think. Thank you and thank the nonny below for the tip. It sounds like a spoken word SCP site, which could be kinda fun.

It's basically a town where EVERY conspiriacy theory a little town has ever had is real. It's all on youtube and their website for free.

Btw, when you get to episode 19, it's a two parter. PLAY THEM BACK TO BACK. It's just better that way.

It's an absurdist supernatural podcast. It's definitely worth checking out if you have 20 minutes or so to listen to the first podcast. I expected to hate it because I was alreay sick of hearing about it before I ever heard it, but I wound up loving it. It's like Newsnight meets Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, Buffy, and The X-Files.

Does it do it deadpan, or is it "knowingly" campy. I am kinda sick on people who are doing the knowingly campy thing now. A bit of straight deadpan is something I could get into though.

I'll be honest, from the images I thought it was yet another weird webcomic like that one with the little horned people that keeps cropping up everywhere.

It's pure deadpan. It's presented as a community radio station newscast.

I thought it was a webcomic at first, too. I think the one you're thinking of is Homestuck, but I can't be sure. That's the only one I know of simply because it used to get at least one secret a day here until maybe a month or two ago.

Okay, I'll give it a go. You got a link to it?

I get it through Apple's Podcasts app but the official site has DL links (or links to where to DL, I can't remember exactly)

I'll totally add that to the list.

Specifically the list of things I am not going to do anything about.

"Newsnight meets Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, Buffy, and The X-Files."
I'm stealing your awesome description for the next time someone asks me about WtNV!
