I am glad you have the night/windows thing to. It isn't just me. And fortunately growing up, I had beds with built in drawers on the bottom!

I had a bed like that too! (But that just made it worse, because there were drawers on both sides and they had handles that stuck out, so the bed didn't sit flush with the wall. There were about two inches of space between the wall and the bed that got really dark at night, and I was convinced ghosts lived in it and stole my stuffed animals while I slept.)
