I will always be enamored of Stargate: Atlantis fandom's penchant for crack, personally :)

SGA crack was the best crack. That fandom will always have a special place in my fandomy heart.

I might have to familiarize myself with SGA just for the crackfic, then. I love crack, but it seems sadly few and far between in my fandoms!

Seems like horror/darkfic fests have gotten a bit more trendy in HP fandom, which I love.

In Merlin fandom I love those AU fics that deal with the internet in some way--usually Merlin and Arthur meeting online in various ways. There are a surprising number of them and I'm happy they continue to pop up from time to time.

I actually got into SGA through the crack fic. If you don't mind to read fics for a canon you're unafmilar with, I could rec a few. Several of them are AU, if that helps.

SGA AU fic for me

Coffeeshop AUs. Can't get enough of 'em! I'm thinking of writing one because my current fandom "only" has 78 of them. Well 78 complete ones. I don't read WIPs anymore.

Teen Wolf

Last time I checked out RotG fandom, there seemed to be a trend for drawing Bunny as a hot, half-naked human dude. I was really okay with that.

I love the Hannibal terrible puns thing.

The allotment trope in the Lewis fandom. It's just so awwww fdfnklg.

Also, I love the bees from Elementary.

In a more general vein - all the friendshippy gen.

I'm a fan of whumping, and I'm pretty good at latching on to characters that fandom likes to whump. I just got into Left 4 Dead 2, so right now that means wallowing in all the fics about Ellis being attacked by Special Infected.

SGA fandom has the very best fic. Crackfic and AU's included.

...I'm coming up with so few fandom trends I actually enjoy. This is pathetic.

I DO love MMO AU's but they tend to be pretty rare so I'm not sure that would qualify as a trend...

Oh, and I have a weakness for Sentinel/Guide AU's too. Sometimes I side-eye myself over this, but I like what I like.

In a general sense, going undercover as lovers. It's so lame but I find it delightful.

Inherited kidfic

The Danny Phantom fandom has an almost unnatural number of AUs and canon continuations in which they kill off the main character, one horrifically painful way or another. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

DP fic really got grimdark to the extreme every now and then

like, the cartoon shows Danny being afraid of his parents discovering his secret identity and dissecting him for science? fics went there

his evil murderuous future self got trapped in a flimsy container and the next and final season of the show forgets about him? fans write more fics about his violent return than the eye can see!

creepy villain dude is obsessed with Danny and Danny's mom and then gives up trying to get Danny to join him so he clones him to have a perfectly obedient son? hello, biggest slash pairing of the fandom that rivals the following of the canon pairing pretty hardcore

man I miss this fandom

I discovered the fandom still lives on tumblr and not gonna lie that's about 75% of the reason I'm still on tumblr. (phantomrose96 has like a thousand angst-laden oneshots on her blog and one of these days I'm going to just sit down with a bowl of popcorn and read them all.)

Epic gen fics in Magnificent 7 fandom. Old West-y goodness...although now that I think of it, I also like the trend in that fandom of there being 3 or 4 popular AUs, with 'au bibles' from the author of the first fic and other people playing in the sandbox too.
