I don't really see why it matters, tbh. Lots of different type games fall under the RPG genre and even if the style or mechanics lean more towards what you might expect from a JRPG, it's still accurate.

If you want to call it a RPG with JRPG leanings that's fine, and I wouldn't get on your case if you called it a JRPG either, but apparently that upsets some people. *shrugs*
