Secret 8 - Spoilers for Ralph Bakshi's Wizards

spoilers for Ralph Bakshi's Wizards

[Picture is a red robot (Necron 99) riding a gray horse-like creature while he marches with other soldiers on a field. Fandom is marked as "Ralph Bakshi's Wizards".]

I'm still disappointed in how they use this character. He starts off all badass and cool, and then they have him switch to the "good" side and turn into basically a hippie and then kill him. He had such potential and it seems like they wasted him.

This movie in general was kind of disappointing (And don't even get me started on how problematic Elinore was), but what they did with him annooyed me the most.

This is why you don't make a cartoon allegory of the holocaust.

Huh, I'd always heard it was an allegory for Israel.

I watched that film when I was far too young to fully grasp its themes.

Ooooh. Was that the movie with the wizard brothers, and one was into technology (The evil one?) and then the "good" brother killed him? Then he ran off with that really young girl? I hated that movie. LOL

The whole movie is a setup for the scene with the gun. It's also a snorefest until that scene.

I loved this movie. Still do. To each their own, anon.

I really like Wizards purely for its WTF factor (Nazi themes in MY elves and fairies fantasy? Wut?),
but I agree that they wasted this dude's potential.

Still love the movie, though.

Talk about a movie I never expected to see a secret for.

It's problematic as hell, and weird, and it has such plot holes, but I don't even care. I unapologetically love it.

Am I the only one wondering why there's spoiler tags on a secret for a movie that's over thirty years old?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope.
