Last work do

Been spending seven+months training ten to twelve hours a day with people, and we just had our last drinks.

Come monday we're scattered across London and back to the real world. Tremendous mix of melancholy and excited trepidation. We will be meeting up in five weeks to parade - if no-one burns out in that time, but even then we'll be down someone (broken leg) so this was the final definite time we'll all be together.

Really great people as well. Haven't been hit by this feeling since the end of Uni, and even that lacked this sense of finality.

There is something pretty unique to the kinds of bonds that you end up with between people in this kind of industry. You may be completely different people, may have never hung out if not for the job, but because you're together through a shared purpose that's by definition pretty tough, you recognize and appreciate that in each other. And that's cool.

I can empathize, to some degree, with the brief times I've been around in this part of the working world. There is a definite sense of loss, when for whatever reason, you realize you won't or can't see these people again.

Yeah, it is tough. I'd offer a bro hug, but I have no idea how you'd take that. Maybe a fist bump?
