Emergency room doctor here - I totally come home and write fanfic, play on my X-box and have endless Marvel Vs DC debates with my husband. Like OP, I'm in it for the escapism.
I had a patient the other week who was amazed that I knew who Captain America was when I squeed over her shirt whilst suturing her head! And then we geeked out together for the entire time I was stitching her. Yay fandom.
