Alienwares are pretty, but I don't think $1000 is going to net you a decent one. Sorry, I've heard they are a little overpriced. That said I haven't looked at them in a long while, so maybe they're little less outrageously priced these days.

Even if you can't build it yourself, f you're willing to get all the parts and have someone who's good at that sort of thing, build it for you, you can probably still come up with a somewhat decent gaming laptop.

Also a week or two ago someone linked a really helpful thread on laptops. I think it was this one.

Mind you in summer 2014 there will probably be even newer parts available, but hopefully that thread is a start.
