DA--I will stan for Lois McMaster Bujold and Ursula Vernon and Naomi Novik all damn day. I don't understand why I should have to support CC just because she's a fellow fangirl. If I see a non-famous fan displaying shitty behavior, I'm going to ask them to stop it and I certainly won't reward them for it. Why should her success suddenly mean I have to support her? There are other fangirls made good out there who didn't get where they are by being plagiarists and pretty nasty people. I think I'll throw my money and good reviews at them, and continue to tell people who ask my opinion of CC's books that there are better authors out there. Perhaps if she'd written, I dunno, a mystery series about little old ladies and cats, or non-fiction, I would have less reason to think she has no regrets about her fannish behavior.

+1, especially to this: If I see a non-famous fan displaying shitty behavior, I'm going to ask them to stop it and I certainly won't reward them for it. Why should her success suddenly mean I have to support her?

I never understand that sentiment that we have to support this person because we are both ____ (fill in the blank). I'll support good people, and shun the bad ones, thanks very much.
