I usually love my canon characters, but I do understand that some people love the canon universe, and maybe they want to explore different people in that universe. It isn't MY version of fandom, but I don't understand why people are saying it ISN'T fandom. It is - it's just that someone is more interested in the world than the characters that inhabit it.
