(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 04:08 am (UTC)(link)She may have fit the textbook definition of bisexual but if she chose to identify as lesbian from her freshman year in college onwards, it has to be respected. But again, that doesn't mean they're her past as bisexual because Oz was never ignored, and neither was her Xander-crushing.
And I don't think Kennedy was written as a counter to the criticism of Tara being a one-off relationship. I believe Joss wrote Kennedy in as a way of assuaging the W/T fans that Willow's sexuality wasn't about to do a 360 back to Boys Town just because Tara died.
Although when Kennedy asked Willow when she knew she liked women, and Willow answered, "not women. Woman." I thought that was a sort of confirmation that if it weren't for meeting Tara, then Willow wouldn't have realized she was attracted to girls. *shrugs* I don't know though, Joss loves ambiguity when he can write it in, it makes retconning so much simpler later on down the road. Plausible deniability and all that.
