What's not to like about old gaia though?

It wasn't overrun by ads and you only needed the gold earned in-game to buy stuff. There was more of a focus on mingling with the community and the events were special because they were spaced out more

Now it's super cluttered, ads everywhere, and --really?-- $500 in real money for something in-game? Fuck that.

Most of the stuff from old gaia is still there, there's just been more additions and expansions as the site grew to accommodate the higher traffic. I get that the overall feeling has changed, but there have been few preventions for a user to seek and nest out a comfortable little niche for themselves. I've had accounts since around early 2005 and complaints about 'old gaia' has been around since at least back then.

It's been a couple of years since I've been active on the site though, so maybe it has changed. I just blocked the ads and threw some money at the site every once in a while to help out. Looks like the price has increased significantly, but if they haven't soulbound the item you can just as well buy it with gold right?
