My response was to the 14-18 (usually, not always) year old girls who hate females in manga and anime for messing their yaoi fantasies. Mentally like that was very common in circles I ventured into as a young lass. They are the ones who have vehemently opposed het smut fics or even pg-13 fic. That was the stupid phase I was referring to.

If you don't like het smut, that's fine. You don't have to.
