OMG OP! I just watched this movie yesterday. It is very ridiculous when you rewatch it though. :D

Secret 3 - Ernest Scared Stupid

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-09-22 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the cover of the movie "Ernest Scared Stupid". It shows the titular character, Earnest P. Worrell, as portrayed by Jim Varney, poking out of a Halloween pumpkin (a pumpkin that has been hollowed out and had a sinister smiling face carved on a side). He is a man with lightly tanned light skin, short dark hair, and a grayish brown baseball cap. He is screaming.]

This movie scared me so badly when I was little. I still can't bring myself to watch it over twenty years later.

Oh gawd I loved this film (and the rest of the Ernest films).

I need to re-watch this. I feel my life will be better for it.

The opening was the first time as a kid I ever saw a first person horror moment. So this fascinated me. it's indirectly responsible for me watching army of darkness on capable the first time I saw it, and thus getting into a whole genre

OMG OP me toooooooo~~

I couldn't even say the name of the movie when I was a kid, it scared me so bad. I'm so glad to know I wasn't the only one!

Oh my god, me too. I was afraid to roll over in bed for days after watching it.

Don't feel bad, OP. I saw it in theaters with a friend when I was about seven or eight and we got so scared we had to leave.

OMG!!! Me too! Just the very thought of it up until about two years ago sent a shudder down my spine. It's so stupid. I know it's just a kiddie movie and not scary to an adult, but there is no way I could bring myself to watch it again now.

You and me both! The worst parts for me are in the credits when Ernest has the eyeball(s) in his mouth, and when a kid checks under the bed for monsters (trolls?), then settles back in bed only to have one right next to them. The details are, as you can see, fuzzy for me, but I'll never forget how terrified I was when I first saw them.

Oh God, me too!!! That scene where the monster is under bed still freaks me out now. I'm 30 this year!
